Beginning Zentangle was quite the adventure for me. The first reason being, because I did not believe I have the capability to create wonderful art and really nice designs. It is not in the image above but in my first one or two when I started, I made a few mistakes but I remember my professor telling me to keep going even if I do and that is what I did and it came out a lot better than I expected and so as I did more and more my confidence grew and I started to branch out and I started doing more and more new things. In the first row at the top in the image i started doing different designs that my professor did not tell me to do, then he moved me unto water painting with zen which is where you have the leaves with the color. I then took that to another level by showing distance by lightening the water paint. In the second row I started to stray away from 3 designs in one box and actually start to try and make things and use the whole space. Not only did I want to make space but I wanted to make things that I felt like doing and that appealed to me, whether it was how I was feeling or just what looked good. In the third row I wanted to try abstract designs, things that was weird looking but still needed a focus and that is what I came up with.
Journey After the Discovery of Zen
At the end of discovering what zen really is, I was giving this assignment by my professor. "Draw your hand and do various different zentangle designs in it." At first I thought it would be the easiest thing until I sat down to actually do it. I got faced with obstacles like what design should I use and where should I put it but at the end of it all, this is what I came up with. I did this based off most of the designs that I started to do throughout the semester. The left hand represents the amount of things that were pilled on me and what I had to take on. The right hand shows the continuation process and how things became less as I went along and this is also why I left the palm of the hand open. There will be more to do and more to take on but what I do take on and fill my hands with once again will be up to me.
